Weighty Issues

I just want to clear up a few things. I am not on a diet. I have given up on the concept. I read an article that stated that it is better to always try to eat reasonably. That way if you mess up one day you don't give up but just continue to eat right the next day. They also said that you should never weigh yourself because if you notice that you have lost weight you might be more tempted to splurge. I don't hold to that completely, I do weigh myself occasionally and am always within 2-3 lbs of my normal weight so I don't worry about it too much. Yes, it would be nice if I could shed about 10 lbs, but I am not willing to try that hard. What I need is major motivation. It would be great if I could go on Celebrity Fit Club but since I am not a celebrity that is highly unlikely. Before my last high school reunion I did lose a few pounds but even that wasn't a big enough reason to change my lifestyle too much.

I would like to say Tim, is that Laurel is a huge enabler. She has brought me cheesecake twice totally unasked for. She said that she doesn't want me to weigh less than her! It is a good thing that I get as much exercise as I do or who knows what I would look like. (actually probably just a fatter version of me)

Does anyone have a good tip for me?

in his book, momentum for life, michael slaughter says that if you eat right 80% of the time, the 20% of the time that you don't really won't impact you too much. building our lifestyle around approaches such as these doesn't necessarily provide a quick fix, but i think they are more sustainable over the long haul.

i'd write more but my ice cream is calling...

see, tips coming from me are kind of futile because i LOVE food and i would be a huge enabler too (i'm on laurel's team!) ...but...
my mom and i joined curves together last year and it's been fun! it's only a half hour and they tell you what to do so it's not like going to the gym and having no idea what on earth you're doing on the machines...anyway...it's made it so i can eat my m&ms (sorted out by color) and not gain anything...and i lost weight too! losing weight and still eating m&ms is all good!

but really, i'm game for hanging out with laurel and enabling each other haha..i love food. mmm<3

I agree, strict diets are not successful for me. Instead, I weigh food choices in my mind and try to be aware of what I can cut out - like having the grilled chicken on a salad rather than the deep fried version - even though I think it would taste better.

But, when I want to eat something, I just do and try to be sensible the rest of the time. However, that is why I gained about 5 pounds on vacation. I have since lost 3 of it, but I am no role model for good diet planning!

I'm hoping that I'll be able to get more exercise this Fall when both boys are in school all day. Maybe exercise will help.
